Magnet

Support

Magnet is one of Nordbeam's games, and this page covers all of them. Questions, bugs or something you want removed? Write to hello@nordbeam.io. Please include the room code or your display name if it helps. We read every message.

How do I play?

Magnet is one door for two people. Add what to buy, what not to forget and little notes; both of you see every change at once, on the app and on the Home Screen widget. Send a heart to say hello, and start a store run to let your partner add things while you shop. To share a door, give your partner the six-letter code or the invite link.

You can always practice against a bot first.

How do I play a friend?

Choose to play a friend, pick live or turn-based, and share the link or the four-character code. Your friend taps the link or chooses Join with code. In games for more than two players the host sees a waiting room: friends join with the same code, and the host can add bots, remove a player and start the game once enough players are in. A room code works for 24 hours if nobody joins. Codes use the letters A to Z (no I or O) and the digits 2 to 9.

How do I play in person?

Games that support it have an in-person option: let your friends scan the code on your screen, or join a nearby game. It works without internet.

What is the difference between live and turn-based?

Live games give each turn 45 seconds. Turn-based games give each turn 24 hours (12 hours when three or more people play) and send a notification when it is your turn. Three missed live turns in a row (two in a turn-based game) lose the game, and a player who leaves a game for several players drops out while the others play on.

Someone has a bad name or is bothering me

Open the game, then choose Report or Block. A blocked player is never matched with you in Quick match and cannot invite you. If several players report the same name, it is reset automatically. You can see and undo blocks in Settings.

I lost my account or got a new phone

Our games use a guest account, so there is nothing to sign in to. The account's secret key is kept in your iCloud Keychain, so it comes with you to a new iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Keychain turned on. Without iCloud Keychain, a new phone starts a new account, and your old games stay with the old one.

Which languages do the games speak?

English, Swedish, French, Spanish and Arabic, including right-to-left layout in Arabic. The apps follow your iPhone's language, and so do notifications. They support Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency.

How do I delete my data?

Settings, then Delete my data. The privacy policy lists exactly what is removed.

I do not get notifications

Check that notifications are allowed for the game in iOS Settings, and that Focus is not hiding them. Tapping a notification opens the game.

How do I invite my partner?

Open your door and choose Invite: share the link, or read out the six-letter code. Your partner taps the link, or chooses Join with code and types it in (capitals or not). A code works for 7 days and only while you are the only one on the door; ask for a new one any time.

How do I move out of a door?

Open the door's settings and choose Move out. Your partner keeps the door and everything on it. If you were the last one, the door is deleted.

The widget shows old things

Apple decides when a widget reloads, so it can be a little behind. It always says how old its copy is. Opening Magnet brings it up to date.
